How We Do It:

Well, it all starts with you, without your help we can’t do too much of anything. Beyond that, we get as much information on the location the system will be installed so we can make adjustments to the setup based on their particular needs. We then package the filter in a ready to go baggage-sized unit that can be checked as luggage on an airplane to go with either a mission team, or we go and install them ourselves. Two items are acquired in country: Sand and a car battery, these items are available worldwide in major cities (ie: anywhere you can fly into). Everything is then transported to the (usually) more remote locations. After setup, we do basic biological tests to ensure the system is functioning properly. We work with other organizations and our own staff to ensure that there is always someone on the ground nearby to help with maintenance issues. While there we document the stories of some of the local children to share, and we plan how we can further be involved in the community based on their needs. Possible future involvement includes: well digging, latrine construction, storage facilities, community health plans, health and hygiene education, sports programs for children, economic development initiatives and more. The end goal is to establish long-term relationships that lead to improved qualities of life for those we have the opportunity to impact.
